Origin Broadband has launched a TV service, Origin TV, offering 120 channels, including movies and TV content and sports from around the world.

The service has been created in partnership with Netgem and combines Freeview TV; rentable movies; on-demand content from traditional broadcasters and OTT providers such as Amazon Prime, Britbox and Rakukten TV (although notably Netflix is not on the list); YouTube content; a series of genre-based channels; and sport content through Premier Sports, including live LaLiga and Serie A matches.

Origin TV costs £12.99 a month and is available to Origin broadband customers.

Oliver Bryssau, CEO, Origin Broadband, said: “Netgem allows us to provide a genuine value broadband and video package alternative to the £50/m and upwards routinely charged by our competitors, and has allowed us to do so quickly and with very little capital exposure.”

Sylvain Thevenot, chief commercial and customer officer, Netgem TV, adds: “The altnets are seeing great success in the currently challenging economy and we believe that adding flexible, high quality and value-conscious video services to their offering, as Origin Broadband has just done, will help continue to drive their growth forward and increase customer loyalty.”
