Huge investment in Sachtler’s recently launched carbon fibre tripods

Broadcast hire company Visual Impact Rental has replaced its entire fleet of tripods with Sachtler Flowtech 100 carbon fibre tripods.

The rental wing of Visual Impact has invested in 40 x Flowtech 100s and 40 x Video 18 S2 fluid heads, “in response to customer demand”.

The recently released lightweight Flowtech 100 is a “revolution in tripod technology”, says Sachtler, which claims its “easier and faster to deploy and adjust than any other tripod.”

Visual Impact Rental says it’s “ideal for a wide range of wildlife, commercial, and documentary productions as well as for heavy-duty electronic newsgathering and electronic field production. With unique quick-release brakes conveniently located at the top of the tripod, the Flowtech 100 legs adjust automatically to the ground’s surface — saving operators from having to bend over and manually adjust multiple brakes on each leg. The tripod also includes a new removable carbon-fibre mid-level spreader with four locking positions, a carry handle, and rubber feet that ensure fast and stable setup in narrow spaces or on uneven terrain.”

The hire company has recently supplied FlowTech tripods to productions including Food Unwrapped (C4), Drive to Survive (Netflix)

VI Rental sales director Tim Sparrock said: “Production companies have been asking specifically for Flowtech, so we made this investment to ensure that we can meet that demand. Our customers need a lightweight tripod that is quick and easy to deploy on location for a variety of shoots – Flowtech 100 meets all of those requirements and more.”

“The Video 18 head is a perfect match [for the tripod], for the cameras in our inventory, ranging from the Arri Amira and Sony Venice to camcorders such as the Sony PXW-FS7,” adds Sparrock.
