Sequence Post founder Ben Foakes has stepped down as managing director of the facility to set up a short-form production and post consultancy and technology business.

Foakes, who founded Sequence 10 years ago, has formed We Are One Media.

The company will produce content including broadcast promos and idents, as well as providing post-production consultancy services such as workflow design and post supervision.

The start-up is also working on aggregating a raft of digital tools to create a digital backbone for productions that aims to “streamline the process of file-based film and broadcast video production”.

Following a six-month handover period, post-production manager Kabir Jutla has now taken over responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the DCD Media-owned Sequence. But Foakes will continue to have close ties to the company, working as a management and technical strategy consultant and project-based post production supervisor.

He said: “The media industry is experiencing prolific change, led by the acceleration of some revolutionary digital tech, a growing volume of multiplatform content production and constantly shrinking client budgets.

“It’s the right time to focus my energy on building a completely fresh-thinking and reactive group of integrated businesses.”

DCD Media acquired Sequence Post in early 2012 after the business went into voluntary liquidation.

Foakes said that since 2012, the facility had been “busier than ever”, and had grown revenues by 25% over the past year.

Sequence’s credits include Ibiza Rocks; Dispatches; The Alps Murders; and Nick Hewer: Countdown To Freetown.
