Germany’s Welt boards World’s Most Dangerous Rescues pilot, co-produced with Quintus Studios

The Worlds Most Dangerous Rescues

Middlechild Productions is teaming up with Berlin’s Quintus Studios to co-produce a human survival docuseries.

The World’s Most Dangerous Rescues is the first project to emerge from Quintus’ factual Co-Pro club, a co-financing initiative which Brighton-based Middlechild joined in February to streamline factual series’ development and production.

Each episode of the 6 x 60-minute series features a variety of five to six different dangerous rescues that have been caught on camera, a mix of ones which have made global headlines and other lesser-known yet equally incredible feats.

The series show uses UGC material, eyewitness testimony and fresh interviews with the main protagonists to retell these survival stories.

Free-to-air German channel Welt has boarded as a pre-sale partner for a pilot episode following the series’ presentation at the inaugural showcase of the Co-Pro Club, while the documentary will also air on Quintus’ YouTube channel Free Documentary. It will be branded as a Quintus original.

“Quintus are ripping up the traditional commissioning and distribution model and we’re so excited to be part of it. The industry is changing and I want Middlechild to be at the forefront of the new opportunities that are presented to us,” said David Sumnall, managing director at Middlechild.

Gerrit Kemming, managing director at Quintus, added: “Initiatives like the Co-Pro Club are created to achieve much quicker greenlights than in the era of classic co-pro or pre-sale-funding.”
