Creative Technology, part of the NEP Worldwide network, has invested in Kairos for its UK and Northern Europe offices.

Creative Technology supplies specialist audio visual equipment to the broadcast, corporate, entertainment, and sport industries, and has added Kairos as it looks to switch from baseband SDI to IP routing.

Resolution and format dependent, Kairos, made by Panasonic, is an IT/IP-based video production platform that aims to enable uncompressed processing, true uncompressed 4K inputs and full simultaneous support of baseband and IP signals, such as ST2110 and NDI – all at 1-frame latency processing speeds.

A software-based, open architecture platform that uses CPU/GPU processing to deliver on this, operators from other companies will be able to use Creative Technology’s facilities as a training centre to learn how to exploit the full potential of the Kairos system.

Creative Technology head of integrated networks and vision, Sid Lobb, said: “We’ve been developing an IP strategy at CT for a number of years, but until now we haven’t had a platform that enables us to manage the exciting transition from baseband SDI to IP routing.

“We see Kairos enabling us to do just that. It allows us to offer our clients the capabilities of mixing and switching between video signals, and distributing it in any format and resolution required by the client. We are extremely excited to both continue our partnership with Panasonic, and support the evolution of Kairos as a platform.”

Andre Meterian, director of the professional video systems unit for Panasonic Business, added: “We see Kairos enabling us to do just that. It allows us to offer our clients the capabilities of mixing and switching between video signals, and distributing it in any format and resolution required by the client. We are extremely excited to both continue our partnership with Panasonic, and support the evolution of Kairos as a platform.”
