Coronavirus fears have seen the show delayed

The Prolight + Sound 2020 show has been postponed until 26-29 May.

Originally planned to go ahead from 31 March until 3 April in Frankfurt, the trade show is moving dates due to fears over the coronavirus pandemic.

After consultations, organiser Messe Frankfurt has decided that it is unable to implement the health checks necessary to prevent the spread of the infection. Participants from high-risk regions would be subject to these checks, and they would have been vital in terms of risk assessment.

In addition, growing travel restrictions would have made it difficult for exhibitors and visitors to make the journey to Germany.

Detlaf Braun, Member of the Executive Board of Messe Frankfurt, said of the decision: “The current situation represents a major challenge for fair and exhibition companies from all over the world. We regret that the 25th anniversary edition of Prolight + Sound cannot take place as planned.”

German Entertainment Technology Association (VPLT) director, Linda Residovic, added: “The VPLT was in constant contact with our cooperation partner, Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH, to achieve a quick decision acceptable for all concerned about this year’s leading trade-fair for the sector, Prolight + Sound 2020. A variety of factors meant that this was not an easy decision to take. Now we have certainty: the sector will get together again in Frankfurt at the end of May 2020.”
