Heartstopper exec producer discusses Netflix’s LGBTQ+ hit series, alongside a recap of this year’s industry get-together

The executive producer behind Netflix’s coming-of-age, LGBTQ+ smash hit Heartstopper Patrick Walters joins the podcast this week from Edinburgh, as the TV Festival returns to the city for the first time since 2019.

Adapted from Alice Oseman’s graphic novel, Walters discusses the casting process, coordinating intimacy and celebrating teenage stories as See-Saw Films gears up to begin filming its second series.

Meanwhile, hosts Alice Redman and Heather Fallon recap this year’s Edinburgh TV Festival, from its major themes and talking points to what’s next for the industry and looming threats.

This includes the debate surrounding reboots and revivals across the PSBs, the ethics of creating true crime documentaries and actor Brian Cox’s thoughts on the TV industry.
